The Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and the Play Rules are now version 1.1 (from 4 October 2026)
The Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and the Play Rules are now version 1.1. They were announced on 2026-10-04 and take effect on the same day, 2026-10-04. The full texts are on the pages linked below this notice.
Why it takes effect today
Article 26(3) of the Terms of Use says that changes worse for users are announced at least 14 days before they take effect. Version 1.1 also contains such changes. However, no outside user had yet agreed to 1.0 and was using the Services. We looked at the StarPocket Client downloads, the accounts and support requests on the support site, the shared-ban list, the erase list and the lift list, appeals and reports sent by email or on Discord, and the members of the Discord server; all of them were the author's own tests. So version 1.1 takes effect on the day it was announced. From the next change on, we will announce changes at least 14 days in advance.
The copies inside StarPocket Client will become 1.1 with the next version of the Client. When you open that version, you will be asked to agree to 1.1. Until then, the text inside the Client stays 1.0, but from today the version 1.1 on this site is the one in effect.
What is new
- "Join us" (contributor recruitment). We are recruiting hosts who create rooms, support members who help with support requests, and people who help with translation or development. Applicants must be 16 or older, and those aged 16 or 17 need a parent or guardian's consent. You apply after signing in to the support site, and go through the author's selection and an interview. Contributing is unpaid. Only the author reads applications, and applications that are not selected or are withdrawn are deleted after 90 days (Terms of Use Article 6(4), Privacy Policy 3.13). The window will open on the support site when it is ready.
- Translating support requests (DeepL). The author reads in Japanese. Only requests from people who ticked "may be sent to DeepL for translation" when sending may be translated with DeepL SE in Germany (the paid API Pro), and only when the author presses "Translate". Anything that looks like contact details is hidden first, and the translation is not kept. The box starts unticked, you can send a request without ticking it, and you can untick it later. The box will be added to the form. "Join us" applications can be translated only by the author, and only for people who agreed on the application page (Privacy Policy 3.1, item 12).
- Applying for a Steam copy. DeepL is used to translate applications. It applies only to people who agree on the guide page and apply. We will announce the start date when it is decided.
What was changed to match how things really work
Version 1.1 contains changes that are unfavourable to users. The main changes are these.
- There is now one Privacy Policy page. The privacy page on this site used to carry a hand-written explanation, older than and different from the version inside StarPocket Client. From today, the same page carries the official text of 1.1. The text inside the Client and the copy on GitHub will be brought to 1.1 in turn.
- What already runs is written as it really works. Sign-in uses a 6-digit code sent by e-mail (10 minutes). Support requests are deleted 30 days after being marked resolved (requests waiting for a reply stay until they are resolved). To count repeated sends, a mark made from the IP address that cannot be reversed is kept for 1 day (the IP address itself is not kept). If you connect Discord, both your e-mail address and your Discord are kept, and the notice e-mail sent when you connect contains your Discord display name.
- To have a request or an account deleted, ask through the contact page until the delete buttons exist. 1.0 said "you can delete it at any time with 'Delete'", but the buttons do not exist yet.
- There is no automatic deletion yet of the copies held by the author and the moderators (report zips and so on). At present they are deleted by hand on request, and 1.1 marks the automatic deletion as "(planned)". Server backups are kept longer than the "3 days" written in 1.0; 1.1 states the real number of days.
- What comes next is marked "(planned)": the support chat on the site (a bot that answers automatically, or an article search), live replies, automatic resolution 7 days after a reply and a delete button, the delete-account button and automatic deletion of accounts unused for 2 years, new-device notices, changing your e-mail address, support members who help with requests (people living in Japan), and so on.
- The lift list (how an automatic restriction that was a mistake is lifted) has been in PocketRoles since v0.5.5. Because it holds erase codes, the host of any room you have joined can find out that you are on the list, and the list stays in GitHub's history. 1.0's "so that others cannot tell" is withdrawn. If you do not want to be listed, say so when you appeal (then restrictions in other rooms are not lifted).
- In the Chinese version, the list terms (共享限制进入名单, 限制进入名单, 解除名单) match PocketRoles' settings screen ("名单"). The meaning does not change.
The differences from the previous version are also listed in the "Change history" at the end of each page.
Version 1.1 takes effect on 2026-10-04. Questions: the contact page (https://support.starpocketgames.com).
